Actor Yami Gautam, who will soon be seen in Haq, has opened up about her upcoming film’s certification status in the United Arab Emirates. In an interview with Times Now, Yami revealed that Haq received a 15+ rating in the UAE, meaning audiences above 15 can watch it freely.

Yami Gautam confirms Haq cleared censorship in UAE; says, “There are no cuts and it is 15 plus”
“This is the first time I am sharing, ki is film ko UAE main in terms of censorship there are no cuts and it is 15 plus. Meaning it is watchable for all,” Yami told Times Now. She added that the clearance itself indicates that the film’s message is inclusive and not meant to provoke any community. She said, “Toh agar waha koi problem nahi hai.”
Haq is inspired by the landmark 1985 legal case of Shah Bano Begum, who challenged social and legal norms in her fight for maintenance under Indian law. The film, directed by Suparn Varma and produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, dramatises the events of the case and its wider social repercussions.
Yami portrays the character Shazia Bano, with Emraan Hashmi playing her husband, lawyer Abbas Khan. The story traces how the case of Mohd Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum came to be heard by a five-judge Constitution Bench of the Indian Supreme Court and how it established that Muslim women were entitled to maintenance under law.
The actress also addressed pre-release scrutiny, pointing out that the film isn’t restricted to one audience: “You are not making film about one community.”
