Many travellers know that landing in Bengaluru does not mean you have reached the city yet. The airport is far from the main areas, and the long drive often becomes a running joke online. This gap between the airport and the city recently became the centre of a fun moment on social media.

An American tech founder posted that he had arrived in Bengaluru right after landing, and locals quickly stepped in to tell him that the real journey was still ahead.

Social Media Reacts To The Founder’s Cheerful Post

Mike Horton, the Texas-based co-founder of Crossbow Technology and Geodnet, arrived in Bengaluru for an event. After landing at Kempegowda International Airport, he shared a photo and wrote, “Arrived Bangalore and very excited.”

His cheerful update soon attracted comments from people who felt the need to warn him about what lay ahead. “This is not Bangalore, it’s still 2.5 hours away,” said one person in a post that gained over 1 million views.

    Check the post here:

Others joined in with their own jokes. “Bangalore is 2 hrs away still,” wrote someone. Another joked, “This is not Bangalore, actual Bangalore is still 2 days away.”

Some tried adding a bit of friendly advice. “Tere jaisa bus nahi lega wo cab arranged hoga 1.5 ghante mai pohoch jayega,” a user said. Someone else teased, “Kuch time baad pata chalega.”

Another wrote, “Welcome to the silicon valley of traffic jams.” A person commented, “Bro is happy he reached Karnataka, only to realise that these dumb people have built their only airport 2.5 hr away from the city.”

Mike Horton Enjoys The Light-Hearted Replies

Horton replied to several comments and seemed to enjoy the humour. He stayed upbeat and said the long ride was not going to spoil his excitement. After reaching the city, he posted, “Bengaluru is great.”

When a user praised him for smiling after a 20-hour flight, he clarified that it was actually 23 hours.

In another update, he shared a picture of himself outside a Chaayos outlet and said he was excited to try chai in India.

Horton will reportedly attend India Blockchain Week in Bengaluru before travelling to Delhi for the Geo Smart Conference.
