- Kevin Hart doubled down on his criticism of Katt Williams on ESPN’s “NBA Unplugged.”
- On Wednesday, Williams slammed Hart during an appearance on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast.
- The two previously clashed in September 2018 after Williams disrespected Tiffany Haddish.
Kevin Hart isn’t backing down after Katt Williams slams his comedy career by implying he’s an industry plant in a fiery podcast interview.
Hart applauded Williams during an appearance on ESPN’s “NBA Unplugged” on Friday.
After host Kendrick Perkins mentioned Williams’ comments on the air, Hart responded, “Do you entertain or watch the circus, Park?”
Representatives for Williams did not respond to Business Insider’s request for comment outside of normal business hours.
Hart continued to mock Williams while watching footage of a recent matchup between the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers.
“Another fun fact about the New York Knicks. I don’t know if you guys know this, but Katt Williams bought the Knicks, and he took them back and gave them back with a receipt. There are rumors that,” Hart said. “He was the first one to do that. He bought it for 15 days and returned it. That’s another fun fact about the New York Knicks.”
Hart also poked fun at other claims during the interview that Williams read 3,000 books a year from age 8 to 12.
“When he was 7 years old, he…I think it was the University of Delaware,” Hart said. “It was never public news. The world’s biggest secret. The smartest kid in history did it, and they kept it a secret for 48 years.”
The two have had arguments in the past, but their most recent disagreement arose when Williams appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, where he criticized several comedians and made claims about his entertainment career. It all stems from what we shared.
Williams suggested in an interview that Hart is an industry plant, someone who acts like he is independent despite his ties to industry and corporations.
“In my 15 years in Hollywood, no one remembers going to a sold-out Kevin Hart show where there was a line for him. [him] “I never got a standing ovation in any comedy club,” Williams said. “He was already under contract when he got here. Have you ever heard of a comedian who came to L.A. and had his own sitcom on network TV in his first year? Did he even have a movie of his own called “Soul Plane” in which he starred? No, I’ve never heard of that before or since him,” he continued.
The next day, Hart briefly responded on X (formerly Twitter) while promoting his new Netflix movie, Rift.
“I have to take out that anger more than the champion… Honestly, it’s sad.” Hart wrote.
Williams and Hart last clashed publicly in September 2018, when Williams disparaged Tiffany Haddish during an interview on the radio show Frank & Wanda. At the time, Williams suggested Haddish didn’t have a stigma in the comedy world, leading Hart to defend Haddish during an appearance on The Breakfast Club.
Other celebrities whom Mr. Williams criticized on Mr. Sharp’s podcast also responded, including rapper and actor Ludacris. Williams claimed that Ludacris had joined the Illuminati during a conversation with Sharpe, prompting Ludacris to share a freestyle for the comedian.
“It wasn’t the Illuminati, it was just Il Luda Nati,” Ludacris said.
On Friday, Ice Cube also weighed in on Williams’ comments about the 2002 film “Friday After Next.” Ice Cube wrote, produced, and starred in the film, while Williams played a pimp named Money Mike.
Ice Cube has denied that Williams cut scenes from the film that included a sexual assault in a video shared with X.
“That’s not my style,” Ice Cube said.
