Hyderabad: A city-based startup is rewriting the story of education and success, going beyond degrees, degrees and universities. Founded by Shri Charan Lakaraju, Student Tribe is more than just a platform or app, it is a movement to empower the future through networking.
With a determined focus on Tier 2 and Tier 3 universities, Charan’s idea is simple yet innovative. In other words, talent and skill trump the prestige of your alma mater. In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle, he said, “We aim to show that every student, irrespective of the university they come from, has unique abilities.”
Student Tribe (formerly StuMagz), dubbed the ‘LinkedIn for students’, has facilitated over Rs 12 million in revenue generation in the past year through marketing. “We distributed 300,000 rupees in scholarships and 30 students took up gig jobs and collectively earned 900,000 rupees.”
On intellectual capital, he said more than 500 students have improved their skills. “We don’t charge a single rupee. The app and membership are free. Through our Creer Launchpad initiative, over 55 students have secured full-time jobs and over 2,000 others have secured part-time jobs. I got several other opportunities through internships, etc.,” Charan said.
A startup’s social capital is showcased through events and gatherings. “The Tribe Meetup, Career Quest, and PROessional STudents events drew thousands of students from across the state and allowed people to come together, exchange ideas, contacts, knowledge, and more, creating a sense of community. ” he said Charan.
Student Tribe blends education and entertainment with a network of 200 influencers and successful app installations. “We also distributed over 600 movie tickets, engaging students beyond traditional learning,” he said.
Student Tribe alumni’s success stories embody the essence of empowerment, he said, from Baahubali fame violinist Sandilya Pisapati to Instagram influencer Puram Deepak to Indian women’s cricketer. From athlete Gongadi Trisha to content creators Varsha D’Souza and Virajita Sharma to NCC cadets and student entrepreneurs.
With a vast network of over 500,000 students, Student Tribe is a formidable force that proves that talent knows no limits.
