Fun Redemption: Saudia Launches First Class Suites!
Saudia’s current first-class product on Boeing 777s is an outdated six-across aircraft, but it has a huge 24-seat cabin.
The business class on that plane is slanted. As long as this stuff is done on empty airlines, it’s not terrible, but it’s not cutting edge.
You can use Delta miles to redeem for Saudia business class. Delta miles cannot be used for international first class on Saudia Airlines (or any other airline). Fortunately, miles from other SkyTeam partner programs can be used for Saudia’s first class.
And even better, it looks like Saudia is introducing a new first class on the Boeing 777. Via @SultanALFuraih1 Apparently so suite with door It kind of reminds me of first class on an Etihad Airways Boeing 777.
Delta Air Lines blocks SkyTeam partners from flying to the US and offering discounted fares as government-backed Saudia joins Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways in offering superior premium cabin products Will they lobby the US government to do so?
A visa is required to enter Saudi Arabia, but you can usually transit through the airport for up to 18 hours without a visa.
Saudia could be a useful partner for flying to a variety of destinations, but it is not yet clear where the new product will fly or how many planes will be equipped with first class suites.
A first class award ticket between the US and the Middle East or Africa costs just 160,000 Korean Air miles round-trip. (Korean is a transfer partner for Chase Ultimate Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest.)
Additionally, with the Korean Air Skypass, a fuel surcharge is added to the benefits included in the paid fare, but Saudia does not have a fuel surcharge. For example, here is the breakdown of first class fares between Los Angeles and Jeddah:
