The Highland County Chamber of Commerce will present its 12th annual Ag isEveryone’s Business event on Friday, March 1 at Bockman Farms, owned and operated by Jason and Amy Bockman, located north of Hillsboro. We are pleased to announce that we will be holding an event.
This year’s keynote speaker is Sean Hackett, an agricultural products expert and television and radio personality. Hackett has dedicated his life to educating agricultural industry leaders and farmers about financial risk management, hedging, and the utility of index-based agricultural product price forecasting tools.
His extensive research on long-term cycles and statistics on climate, currencies, geopolitics and global capital flows have long been key differentiators of Mr. Hackett’s price forecasting skills. Hackett takes complex concepts and presents them in an easy-to-understand framework to a wide audience, regularly discussing them in his subscriber-based Hackett Agriculture Report and Hackett Dairy Report. Mr. Hackett will speak on “How Weather, Geopolitics, and Other Factors Affect Agricultural Prices.”
Kicking off the event will be Melanie Wilt, Founder and CEO of Shift-ology Communication. By profession, Wilt is a PR consultant and communications coach who has led communications for state and international organizations in the food, agriculture, and aerospace sectors.
As an Accredited Public Relations Professional (APR), she is well-versed in all aspects of public relations, but also community relations, media relations, and crisis communication practices. Wilt is a passionate advocate for agriculture and a pioneer in applying neuroscience and virtual experiences to industry communications. Additionally, she is a gifted science communicator whose teaching methods are applied to the most difficult communication and business challenges in health, education, and manufacturing. Wilt introduces “multi-generational teams at work.”
“The purpose of this event is to network Highland County’s business community with the county’s top industry, agriculture,” said Highland County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jamie Wheeler. “Each year, this event brings together business leaders, farmers, and young people who want to get involved in agriculture.”
Doors open at 9am and welcome begins at 9:45am. The event ends at noon with a lunch prepared by a local caterer and provided by local FFA chapter members.
Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased by visiting the Chamber office at 338 West Main Street in Hillsboro, calling (937) 393-1111, or online at www.thehighlandchamber.com. Seating for the event is limited, so we recommend purchasing your tickets early.
Announcements regarding events and other Chamber activities will be published at www.thehighlandchamber.com and on the Chamber’s social media accounts.
