Saudia may not be the most attractive airline in the Middle East, but it is the airline that frees up the most first and business class award space between the US and the Middle East. Of course, there are good reasons for this. The company’s premium cabin products can’t even compete with what other airlines in the region offer, such as Emirates and Etihad Airways.
Saudia First Class in 2-2-2 configuration
Still, Saudia is a way to redeem Delta SkyMiles for travel to the Middle East/India, no matter what time of year you want to go. please remember. Saudia’s North American destinations include Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Washington.
Previously, ExpertFlyer was the best place to search for your Saudia benefit availability. However, reader CG I am making a note of ExpertFlyer no longer displays availability for Saudia business class awards. However, Saudia’s first and economy class seat availability is displayed.
The fare classes for award travel on Saudia Airlines are as follows:
- First class: A
- Business class: D
- Economy class: L
ExpertFlyer’s description says “Saver benefits for Alfursan members,” but in reality, they should be in the same fare class if you book through Delta SkyMiles, Korean Air SkyPass, etc.
But that won’t help you find out the availability of Saudia business class awards. How do you find out?
How to easily check seat availability for Saudia business class awards
1. Check if Saudia Airlines operates flights for your desired combination of cities on your desired dates.
2. If applicable, assume business class awards are available and call Delta SkyMiles to make a reservation. 😉
It is difficult to check the availability of Saudia business class award seats.
If you want to actually search for Saudia business class award space instead of just guessing, you can join Saudia’s frequent flyer program, Alfursan.
Please note that you may experience issues signing up with Firefox. At least that’s what I did, since the “Name on Card” field never autofills. It worked fine using Chrome.
Once you’re a member, log into your account and click the Redeem Miles button at the bottom right of the Bookings tab.
From there, you can enter your route, dates, and number of people traveling.
The next page will display your benefit usage status. Only available classes will be displayed, so you will see Alfursan Guest (economy class), Aflursan Business, and/or Alfursan First available. For example, on the following dates between New York and Jeddah, there are economy class seats and first class seats, but not business class seats.
However, if you look in a few days, you’ll see that Alfursan Business is also available.
Not only is there one seat per cabin, there is actually at least one seat. 7 seats Available per cabin.
Delta SkyMiles can only be redeemed for business or economy class travel on Saudia. The best way to book first class on Saudia is with Korean Air’s Skypass.
conclusion
Admittedly, it used to be a little difficult to search for availability on Saudia awards, but as far as airline websites go, Saudia’s service isn’t really half bad either. You also don’t need to have miles in your account to search.
I would love to try Saudia someday…think so?
