GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – You don’t have to go far in the Eastern Carolinas to find a “Coming Soon” sign.
“We are seeing a return to small communities investing in the high street economy and what that means through subsidies from governments that have passed regulations that provide incentives. East has a strong focus on community revitalization,” said Emily Yeager, ECU Crisp Small Business Resource Director.
Forbes Advisors says North Carolina is one of the top five places in the country to start a business and has plenty of resources to help.
“One of the things we’re really trying to do is connect with people who want to start a business or grow a business, and with other partners and what I call the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It’s about being a connection,” Yeager said.
Injoy Thrift Store already has several locations in the Eastern Carolinas, is about to open its fourth location, and is currently accepting donations.
“We started a few months ago. We actually acquired the property, renovated some of it, and built it from scratch. We’re currently building shelving, installing countertops, and , we’re building everything out,” said David Stewart, general manager of Injoy Thrift Store.
Stewart says it took some time to find the perfect location for this new location.
“When they had the concept, Greenville was actually the first place they wanted to start, but they couldn’t find the right location or timing, so they went elsewhere and now they’ve come full circle. ”’ Stewart said.
They are reaching their goals, and the director of the ECU Small Business Resource Center says others can too.
“Building confidence is important, and one way to do that is to take the plunge and connect to the resources that are here,” Yeager said.
New businesses in the area also mean new jobs. Injoy is actually looking for new employees.
There are also many free resources for businesses, including free one-on-one guidance at ECU’s Small Business Technology Development Center and a free series hosted by ECU to help those interested in getting started in the arts. Concentrated business.
