The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) and the Ministry of Education have launched a new program called Kesati (Arabic for ‘I’) to promote Arabic language and culture among students and staff in secondary and preparatory level schools in the UAE. announced the start of a contest.

Competition rules Participants will be asked to write a short story based on an event related to UAE heritage. This competition is part of the Youth Department’s Dubai International Writing Programme, which introduces different forms of writing to students of different ages.
“The Kesati competition reflects the Ministry’s enthusiasm to protect and preserve the Arabic language. It is also in line with the vision and guidance of the wise leadership,” said Hussein Al Hammadi.
Jamal bin Huwayreb said this decision is in line with the Year of Reading 2016 declared by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and MBRF’s efforts to raise awareness about the importance of Arabic language and literature. He said that this was in line with the company’s efforts.
The literary works for the competition are selected by a committee of experts in the field, in collaboration with MBRF and the Ministry of Education. The contest will offer 10 prizes to the winner, both at the preparatory and secondary levels, of which 7 will go to students and 3 to teachers and administrators.
