I recently used my Korean Air Skypass miles (80,000 miles) to redeem a first class round trip ticket between London and Dubai on Saudia Airlines. This is probably one of the best ways to use your miles to fly in the expensive Saudia First Class Suite.

From London Heathrow Airport to Riyadh
Registration: HZ-AK39
Saudia uses a common SkyTeam lounge with Terminal 4. There is no dedicated lounge for first class passengers. I recommend his second floor in the SkyTeam lounge as it is quieter and has a view of the apron. The food in the lounge is very average, mainly salads and fruits.
Boarding was delayed by 30 minutes because the plane arrived late. There were separate lines and separate boarding bridges. Here are some photos of the Saudia First Class Suite. The first class cabin has a 1-2-1 configuration. This suite is similar to the suites on the Etihad B777 and Garuda Indonesia B777. There were a total of 11 passengers in 12 first class suites.
During boarding, I also went down to the business class cabin and took a peek. I was impressed by the reverse herringbone seats, which gave direct access to the aisle from every seat.
Knowing that AvGeek had put a special effort into this flight, the captain invited me for a visit to the flight deck while waiting for clearance. Captain Augustin Ayala is from Mexico and F/O Adi Shah is from Malaysia.
Flight time to Riyadh is 5 hours and 45 minutes. Cruising at an altitude of 35,000 feet.

After takeoff, the flight attendants (mostly Filipino) came over and offered us Arabic coffee and dates. They also came over and presented him with an in-flight menu and pajamas designed by him. (Available for flights over 5 hours)
The first class meal started with a small plate of seafood, followed by caviar. The presentation had a lot to improve and was not of a first class standard. Apparently there is a chef on board the flights to the US and Paris (there are no flights to London). From mid-September, new service standards will be implemented on all Saudia Airlines flights. Let’s wait and see what it will be like.
Please note that alcohol is not served on Saudia Airlines flights.
After the caviar, I had cream of chicken soup before the main course of fillet of cod.
After dinner we went for a walk to check out the rest of the cabin.
There is a beautiful bar just behind the first class cabin. However, unfortunately it was not used on this flight. I was told it would only be used on long-haul flights to the US. The bar serves light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks such as fruit juices and mocktails.
The economy seats were full, but it was nice to have a 3-3-3 seating arrangement, one seat less than the traditional 3-4-3 arrangement.
I returned to first class, lowered the bed and rested for two hours. The flight time from London to Riyadh was 5 hours and 40 minutes. As you can see from the photos, the space and privacy of first class is truly amazing.
First class passengers will receive a free Wi-Fi code to their mobile phone before the flight. I was so busy enjoying the flight that I didn’t even take the time to browse the internet.
Just before descending into Riyadh, I was invited into the cockpit to take a few photos in the beautiful, brightly lit sky above the city.
summary
My first class flight with Saudia exceeded my expectations. There is little marketing for this first class His suite outside of Saudi Arabia, so it was difficult to know what to expect. Suites are spacious and offer privacy. It is on par with many other Middle Eastern airlines in its hard product offering. Saudia definitely needs to improve their food presentation in first class. I hope the new service standard they introduce in September will solve this shortcoming.
