LITTLETON, Colo. — A series of break-ins at several businesses in the Denver metropolitan area are putting business owners on edge.
Six stores in a strip mall in the Littleton area were damaged between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Those businesses are located in the 9700 block of West Coal Mine Avenue and include Arsnick Art Business, Just for Paws, Los Potrancas, Mono Mono Korea Fried Chicken, The Gaykery and Two Raven Soap Company.
Denver7 spoke with Jake Miller, owner of Two Raven Soap. He said no money was taken from the business, but the remaining damages still remain to be paid.
“I have insurance, but I also have a deductible. And if I don’t meet that, everything else goes out of pocket, right? So about $900 in the worst month of the year. ,” Miller said. “As a small business owner, this is just another expense you have to deal with.”
Break-ins have also occurred in other cities around the metro.
There was also a robbery Thursday at a RORO juice store in Centennial, about 20 minutes from the Littleton strip mall.
Owner Jen Schultz said the suspect took the cash register, but it was later found at another business that was damaged in Centennial after her store.
“It’s really unfortunate that something like this happens to us,” Schultz said. “I felt violated. I felt unsafe. I was worried about my employees because I wasn’t here.”
Series of intrusions impacting businesses across metro Denver
Schultz said he had heard about the Two Raven Soap break-in before his business was targeted.
“Less than 24 hours later, our business was compromised, and the next day at about the same time that night,” she said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said their cases are still under investigation and will of course look into any connections between their crimes and the Centennial incident.
The suspect from Littleton is described in the video as between 5 feet 6 inches tall and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with an average build, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The male may have been wearing a heavy tan/brown coat, black neck/face covering, red hunting-style hat, blue jeans, and tan shoes with white trim on the soles of the shoes. .
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 303-271-0211.
