Talut Island location
Talut Island is located in the Persian Gulf, approximately 6 kilometers off the coast of the Eastern Province. She is the second longest island in the bay, with a total length of more than 70 square kilometers.
The island is connected to Al Qatif by two causeways and is easily accessible by public transport or private taxi.
History of Talut Island
The island’s history dates back to before 5000 BC. Not surprisingly, Talut is considered one of the oldest places inhabited by humans.
The island is named after the Mesopotamian goddess of love and war, Estalt, and was the center of the kingdom of Dilmun in 3000 BC.
The island also served as a midpoint for trade activities between Mesopotamia (present-day Iraq) and the eastern Arabian Peninsula.
In fact, in the Middle Ages the island was named Darling after its main port.

Visit the surrounding villages for a glimpse of ancient times, with maze-like walkways, teak balconies, and arabesque carvings.
The castle is open to visitors from 4pm onwards. Admission is free, but if you want to hear local stories about the castle, it’s worth paying a tour guide to join you.
